U.S. Natural Gas Shipments to Rise on Warmer Weather in South

  • Scheduled deliveries of natural gas to U.S. power plants rose for a second day on forecasts of warmer weather may boost demand for fuel for air conditioning. Shipments to the Southeast also advanced.
    A sample of scheduled deliveries to utilities in the U.S. and Canada showed an increase of 3.9 percent to 10.2 million dekatherms, according to data compiled by Bloomberg from 9:15 am in New York.
    Power plants in the Southeast would receive 1.9 million dekatherms, 6.2 percent yesterday, according to Bloomberg data.
    scheduled shipments to U.S. residential consumers fell 5.2 percent to 28.3 million dekatherms.
    The high temperature today in New Orleans could be 81 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius), 8 above normal, according to Weather Underground in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The morning high may be 79 degrees, five more than normal.
    Gas at Henry Hub in Erath, Louisiana, the delivery point for futures traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange, rose 0.4 percent to $ 3.9863 per million British thermal units yesterday.
